The Dickler Family Foundation was founded in 1996 by Ruth and Gerald Dickler, who had long been concerned with issues of equity, opportunity and justice for all people. They hoped to extend the results of their hard work and good fortune to others and to encourage their children, grandchildren and future generations to carry on their long tradition of giving.
The Foundation's programs promote grassroots community development abroad; domestic and international reproductive health; and early childhood education in the New York City public schools. They also support reforms related to these programs.
The programs grew out of the Dicklers' interest and travel in the far corners of the world; their conviction that family planning is a key to a woman's capacity to care for her family and herself, and their mutual affection for and desire to enrich the City's schools, which they attended.
The Dickler Family Foundation is no longer accepting applications online, but the program coordinators welcome inquiries and requests for applications and other forms.
